Numbers 15:37-41

The Lord spoke to Moses:  “Speak to the Israelites and tell them to make tassels for themselves on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and put a blue thread on the tassel of the corners.  You must have this tassel so that you may look at it and remember all the commandments of the Lord and obey them and so that you do not follow after your own heart and your own eyes that lead you to unfaithfulness.  Thus you will remember and obey all my commandments and be holy to your God.  I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God. I am the Lord your God.”

The Lord said to Moses,  “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘Throughout the generations to come you are to make tassels on the corners of your garments, with a blue cord on each tassel.  You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember all the commands of the Lord, that you may obey them and not prostitute yourselves by chasing after the lusts of your own hearts and eyes.  Then you will remember to obey all my commands and will be consecrated to your God.  I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the Lord your God.’”

Again the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,  “Speak to the children of Israel: Tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue thread in the tassels of the corners.  And you shall have the tassel, that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the Lord and do them, and that you may not follow the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes are inclined,  and that you may remember and do all My commandments, and be holy for your God.  I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the Lord your God.”

Then the Lord said to Moses,  “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel: Throughout the generations to come you must make tassels for the hems of your clothing and attach them with a blue cord.  When you see the tassels, you will remember and obey all the commands of the Lord instead of following your own desires and defiling yourselves, as you are prone to do.  The tassels will help you remember that you must obey all my commands and be holy to your God.  I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt that I might be your God. I am the Lord your God!”

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,  Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue:  And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the Lord, and do them ; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring:  That ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God.  I am the Lord your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the Lord your God.

As ambassadors for Christ Jesus, we have a responsibility to remember, especially when it comes to how God has impacted our lives specifically. Each of our stories, just like the story of Israel, has power to release the truth into the lives of others. The tassels were to remind the Israelites of who their God was and what He had done for them...AND to convict them toward obedience! Whatever your tassel, do not let it become your idol and draw your worship. Remember the living God, for He is worthy!
